Sagarika Ghatge Khan is Opening Doorz on her workout routine and eating habits…

Workout Routine

I used to be quite the athlete, and running remains my true love. Whenever possible, I kickstart my day with an outdoor run, soaking in the fresh air and sunshine. While treadmills are a backup option, there’s no substitute for the natural environment. I typically log between 6 and 8 kilometers, pushing myself with the varied terrain.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is another key component of my routine. These bodyweight exercises are quick, effective, and leave me feeling energized. Swimming also holds a special place in my heart—a throwback to my school days! While occasional paddle tennis matches add variety, incorporating them consistently is a work in progress.

“More than a workout, it’s my eating, which kind of gets a bit haywire. So I’ve got to concentrate more on my workouts,” says Sagarika Ghatge Khan.

Eating Habits

Now, the fun part (and sometimes the challenge!): food. Let’s be honest, I’m a full-fledged foodie. Exploring diverse flavors brings me immense joy, but I recognize this hasn’t always translated to the healthiest choices. This is where exercise plays a crucial role in maintaining balance.

Boarding school definitely influenced my food habits. The “eat everything, play everything” culture left its mark! While appreciating these memories, I understand the need for mindful choices as I get older.

My mornings begin with a warm glass of water infused with lime and chia seeds, followed by a strong black coffee to fuel my cardio session. Consistency is key and this pre-workout ritual sets the tone for my day.

Currently, I’m focusing on incorporating the right types of protein. I believe in balanced eating, including carbs strategically throughout the day. While I love rice, I prioritize it earlier in the day. Yes, the occasional biryani indulgence happens (hey, I’m a foodie!), but in moderation. And let’s not forget my sweet tooth, which I satisfy with occasional treats.

Balancing my foodie nature with a healthy lifestyle requires effort. While workouts help manage the occasional “haywire” eating moment, I’m actively making mindful choices and exploring nutritious options to fuel my body and my love for delicious food.
