Akbar Khan on his workout routine, eating habits and spiritual quotient…
Workout Routine
We all know that ‘Health is Wealth’, but how many of us take this seriously? Seriously, we are so caught up with the pressures of day-to-day living that everyday becomes a burden and if you look around you today, youngsters are stressed out, distressed at meeting targets for corporate! Health should be the first priority for every human being. One should keep the body in shape at all times. One should never take the depression, negativity and pressures of daily living into the gym. Whilst exercising, one should dismiss the negative thoughts from the mind and focus on the positive and the immediate workout.
I don’t keep a regular routine as far as my workouts are concerned. I do not want boredom to set in. I alternate my routine with swimming, jogging, walking or stretches. I also do yoga. Your heart should be clean; the mind can be a little naughty so that one does not get too serious.
Eating Habits
I eat in limits, ensuring there is space for some more. In the morning, I eat a lot of dry fruits like Badam, Anjeer and Olives. After that I have my morning tea, whilst reading the newspapers. For breakfast I have cereals like oats and porridge, two boiled eggs which is topped with a glass of warm milk.
For lunch I prefer boiled or roasted chicken with bread and soup. My soup is specially made for me: it’s concentrated chicken soup which I have daily. My dinner is very light.
Spiritual Quotient
I began by quoting ‘Health is Wealth’. I would go further by saying health is even more precious than wealth!
I would like to quote Omar Khayyam’s verse which goes thus:
Here with a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough,
A Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse
and Thou Beside me singing in the Wilderness
And Wilderness is Paradise now.
The crux of this verse is, forget about the past and don’t worry about tomorrow, enjoy and embrace the moment. This, I believe, is the perfect formula for living without fear. Do the best for the moment and when you do the best for the moment the next moment automatically gets taken care of!
