Rinkee Saroj is the Story Here, Not Pepperfry

Rinkee Saroj has an inspiring story. Opening Doorz recognized her talent by publishing a story about her two years ago. We were impressed by her sales pitch but were confused by her uniform. On inquiry, we were informed that she was from housekeeping but doubling up as sales staff since Pepperfry (at Ghodbunder Road, Thane) was short-staffed.

Our appreciation of her talent, dedication, and the path she would take was not wrong. Today, Rinkee Saroj is the proud owner of R N Cleaning: Facility Services, which operates in and around Thane with plans for growth as the business gets its foothold.

Beginning her career, working in housekeeping agencies, Rinkee Saroj has worked for different agencies over the past seven years. “I have worked in Malls, Hospitals, and Corporates. Two years ago, when the company I was working for lost their contract with a Corporate, I toyed with the idea of starting on my own. It was a tough decision. Four months ago, I decided to take the plunge. I got support from my family and friends who encouraged me,” reveals Rinkee Saroj.

And what happened to Pepperfry and Manager Abhishek Dangde who had recommended your name for a promotion to the sales team, we ask? Rinkee Saroj smiles wryly. “When the Agency I worked for lost their contract at Pepperfry, I worked for a few months for the new Agency and then left the job. There was no feedback from Pepperfry or Abhishek.”

Rinkee’s business offers cleaning services for homes and offices around Thane. Her commitment to customer satisfaction and attention to detail have earned her a reputation for excellence in the industry. Despite facing challenges, Rinkee’s perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit have propelled her to success.

What gave you the confidence to start this business?

Sir, the biggest thing is that this is Mumbai city. Small or big, whatever business you do, you have to know how to run it. You will never lose. If I had started this business in a small city, it would not have been possible to run it successfully. In Mumbai, I have worked with so many people. Everyone who met me told me to do something of my own. “You can be successful. You have so much confidence,” they told me. That’s why I started this business.

Can you describe your day-to-day operations?

I have a staff, who move along with a supervisor at every job. My end goal is the customer’s satisfaction and I work towards that. If there is a problem with the client, I visit and sort things out.

How has business been since you started?

I am doing very well. So far, all the feedback I have received from the guests is good. Two days ago, a client came to me and told me that I had won her heart. I had a job in her apartment where we did the cleaning. She could not stop thanking me. Most of the clients I have worked with have given me positive feedback and recommendations. I am grateful for all these people.

Are you able to manage the workload, in the event of many clients requiring your services in a day?

Yes Sir. By the Grace of God, I have been blessed with a good staff who are always willing to go that extra mile. That is a blessing for any owner of a business. However, I ensure that my staff gets adequate rest and they are not overworked and sacrificed at the cost of seeing my bank balance swell, That will never happen as I have risen from the bottom up and I know the hardships of the ordinary worker.

Foot Note: (Excerpts from the October 30, 2022 interview). Although I was not sure about buying ready-made furniture since I believe in customizing it, we ended up placing an order for two products! That was my Pepperfry experience or rather the Rinkee Saroj effect! Imagine if Pepperfry has one Rinkee Saroj in every store of theirs across India… that day will not be far when every Indian home will have at least one Pepperfry product.

Reality: A few months later, the Esther Solid Wood Queen Size Bed in Honey Oak Finish by Woodsworth Broke. It was taxing to get it replaced with the Pepperfry Customer Care doing their routine jargon of “I understand sir.” With no one understanding. They sent a part replacement which did not match the original and ultimately, when sufficient requests were made, they refunded the money.
