The essence: Since there is no proper plot, the film is packed with side-kicks with scenes akin to a television serial. And just before you realise that Emraan has not kissed, Nupur (Shreya Dhanwanthary) lunges for his lips in a not so impressive romantic build-up. The climax, even when it comes, is so disjointed that you wonder whether Director Soumik Sen was present at the shoot to can this shot!
Why Cheat India is an amalgamation of no plot and a weak script with an attempt by the actors to flog a dead horse!
It’s absolutely ridiculous, to be seated in a theatre, being subjected to amateurish poppycock. Whilst the subject is interesting; why people cheat in India, the writer has tried to pack in too many “pakoras” in the hope of spicing up the flick. The first five minutes interest you when we see an over-anxious father subject his son to studies in the hope that he secures a seat in an engineering college. In short, try to make his own failed dreams come alive. This aspect was beautifully captured in Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots in just a few scenes. Here, Soumik Sen takes 120 minutes to drive a point home and is still not able to do so.
Emraan Hashmi is Rakesh aka Rocky who helps rich students pass by using bright students appear as proxy for them in exams. Rocky has perfected this art. How, not even the viewers know!
From Engineering he goes on to MBA examinations. His desire is to be a ‘scamster’!
