World famous hairstylist Savio John Pereira, an icon of professionalism for both Bollywood and international divas has decided to make good use of his expertise by imparting training over a six-week online tutorial on hairdressing basics. Describing the standstill brought about by the continued lock down as a blessing in disguise, he plans using self-improvisation to give back to the profession that has fetched him name and fame.

“I would prefer to teach people to fish rather than giving them a fish. This is my way of investing time and efforts on giving back to my profession,” he says emphatically in an electronic interaction with Opening Doorz. “I plan to share a part of my knowledge with people who aspire to learn and get initiated,” he adds.

When asked on what motivated him to commence this program, he dwelt on the state of affairs in the previous weeks that inspired in him a feeling to reach out and help. “I have learnt my skills through my passion and with a lot of love and inputs from some of the greatest in our industry. Over the past few weeks, I have seen innumerable acts of kindness and generosity and have also been pained to see the incredibly adverse situation, several families are going through. I have also been humbled by the strength and desire of every single person out there who have been bravely fending for themselves,” he says.

“In a small way, with my expertise being all I have, I would like to help everyone who is looking for a way to take care of their families whilst holding their heads high,” he explains. The six-week course will, among other aspects, deal with cutting, colouring, styling, client care, hygiene, consultation and theoretical knowledge.  Citing that the program he has planned will be made available to everyone in the country at a very affordable price in the form of Rs. 1500 as registration fees, he says, “My online course will serve as a stepping stone to all participants who want to become successful hairdressing professionals.”

His program commences on June 21, 2020 and concludes on July 21, 2020. It will be held from Monday to Friday from 3pm to 4pm.

Seeking support from aspiring candidates to help promote his cause, Pereira expresses the sentiment that it will go a long way in creating the next generation of hairstylists.

Artisans across the world including London, Barcelona, Paris, Milan and New York have rubbed shoulders with this awesome legend during his travels. He is the recipient of a host of accolades including the Best Hairdresser Award for Salon International—a UK-based competition.
