The essence: The movie rests on Vidyut Jamwal and he does full justice to it as the action star. If adrenalin rush is your forte, Commando 2 is just for you!

The slick action and overall presentation of Commando 2 is marred towards the end when parched lands, dry taps and distressed farmers are shown in a bid to build viewer sympathy. Up until then, the process of the black money transfer from abroad was well understood. Showing stock images (which do not match the production standards of the movie) to again illustrate with visuals what has just been explained is like slapping your own face. Take those few minutes of going ‘over-the-top’ by Deven Bhojani away, and you have what you call an entertaining movie for action buffs.

Once again, Vidyut Jamwal excels with his stunts, dare-devilry and quick-footed movements on the ground and off it. But unlike Commando (2013), where Karan Dogra was caught in Chinese territory after his helicopter crashed and where he went on a rampage after escaping to India, trying to cut off Amrit Kanwal Singh’s reign of terror in Himachal Pradesh, the action here is a tad below par. Nevertheless, for Jamwal fans this one is unmissable.

Adah Sharma surprises with her off-kilter act of that of a corrupt cop. As Inspector Bhavana Reddy who has teamed up with Karan and two other officers aligned by the Indian Government to bring Vicky Chaddha to India, Adah is consistent in her eccentric portrayal, and her character grows on you, too. A different Adah from what we have seen before!

Vicky Chaddha is the ‘point man’ out of India who launders black money for connected Indians. He has been caught in Malaysia and the Indian government wants him back in the country to get details of all black money hoarders. However, there are people within the government who are hand-in-glove with Vicky, who want Vicky dead. Karan (Vidyut Jamwal) along with Bhavana (Adah Sharma) ACP Bhaktawar (Freddy Daruwala) and a computer nerd form the crack team sent to Malaysia on this mission.

But Vicky turns out to be a man of many faces. The team has to put up with various hurdles before they stumble on the ‘real’ Vicky. Vicky, on his part, has no intention of sending the black money to its original owners but has plans of his own to siphon off the booty. How Karan and his crack team play Vicky at his own game is what Commando 2 is all about.

The best part about this movie is that it does not have a single song and that is a huge relief. Bhojani has focused on action, action and more action. In fact, the beginning is a classily executed action sequence that is over seven minutes in length, which introduces the plot as well as Karan to the viewers. Vidyut has once again shown that he is a Force to reckon with.

The movie rests on Vidyut and he does full justice to it as the action star. If adrenalin rush is your forte, Commando 2 is just for you!
