Tubelight Movie Review: An apt title!
Tubelight Movie Review. An apt title for a movie that has no writing. Kabir Khan plays heavily on emotions. There’s no sanity in scenes.

The essence: Salman Khan is not able to bring off the character he is expected to play to the fore although he tries really hard. Moreover, his character has only that much of a scope, and given the assumption that he would have pulled off the character, there was always the bad writing to pull him back; either way the film was doomed.
Tubelight Movie Review: An apt title!
If drama does not work, playing on the emotions might. That’s what Kabir Khan has tried in Tubelight. Towards the end, Khan (Kabir) tries all the tricks in the book to try and squeeze out a tear from your eye. He plays heavily on emotions but that can work only if the preceding plot had any semblance of sanity.
In the end you feel sorry for Khan (Kabir) because in Bajrangi Bhaijaan he had managed to play heavily on the emotions and succeeded mainly because the plot had some modicum of intelligence and the little girl, Harshaali Malhotra, was a huge plus to the star cast. Not to forget Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The same cannot be said of Matin Rey Tangu who plays Guo, the little boy (referred to as goo by Laxman Bisht (Salman Khan) throughout the film). Tangu is cute and endearing and has a warm screen presence. However, he is given no role.
The only ones who shine in this film are Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. While Ayub makes every scene his own whenever he is on screen, Zhu Zhu woos you with her confident mannerisms playing the character expected of her to a nicety, bringing in that extra dose of elegance to it.

As for Salman Khan, he plays a special child, who is slow in understanding; hence the nickname tubelight! He dotes on his younger brother who goes to fight the war on the Indo-China border. The rest of the film is on the faith of Laxman, hoping his brother Bharat (Sohail Khan), will come back from the war unscathed
In between, you have village scenes wherein even Shah Rukh Khan comes for a few minutes to show some magic, some of which rubs off on Laxman who then goes on to shake mountains, literally, after his initial tryst with moving a soda bottle, without touching it!

Kabir Khan has let his grip loose on the Director’s call. He is capable of better films than Tubelight. Just raking in the moolah on the shoulders of the reigning Khan does not give any creative person the satisfaction that comes from dishing out an interesting fare.
Having said this, who can stop a Salman Khan fan from rushing to the theatre?
