Ankita Thakur’s Dream Journey began long before La Adorn was born. For over a decade, the lawyer-turned-entrepreneur carried a vision that would eventually lead her from courtrooms to the world of luxury skincare.
Ankita Thakur’s Dream Journey
For more than a decade, Ankita Thakur lived two lives. By profession, she was a lawyer, building a stable career in a field known for precision, structure, and security. But beneath the legal briefs and long working hours was a persistent dream she carried since 2013—a dream rooted in her personal struggles with skincare and a fascination with understanding what truly works for the skin.
In 2024, after years of quiet preparation, research, and self-belief, she walked away from the certainty of law to build La Adorn, a luxury skincare brand founded on authenticity, nourishment, and emotional connection. This is the story of a woman who traded legal arguments for formulations, turning a long-held passion into a purpose-driven business.
Ankita Thakur’s Dream Journey: “Since 2013, I have carried the vision of creating my own skincare brand. It stayed with me through every stage of my legal career.”
The Dream That Refused to Stay Quiet
People often ask me whether there was a dramatic moment when I decided to leave law behind and pursue skincare. The truth is, there wasn’t. It was never one life-changing event or a sudden revelation. It was years of carrying a dream that simply refused to go away.
I entered the legal profession and built a career I was grateful for. Law gave me financial independence, discipline, and confidence. Yet every day, after finishing work, I found myself returning to the same passion. Instead of switching off, I would spend hours reading about skincare ingredients, formulations, textures, and consumer behaviour. The curiosity never left me.
Since 2013, I have carried the vision of creating my own skincare brand. It stayed with me through every stage of my legal career. Over time, I realised that what I felt wasn’t a passing interest—it was a calling. The question that eventually became impossible to ignore was simple: What if I never tried?
That thought became louder than my fear of failure.
Many people see law and skincare as completely different worlds. One is built on facts, regulations, and evidence, while the other is rooted in experience, emotion, and self-care. But I never saw them as opposites. In many ways, they complement each other.
The lawyer in me values research, compliance, testing, and safety. The skincare enthusiast in me understands how deeply personal beauty and confidence can be. Building a skincare brand required both sides of my personality. Science creates trust; emotion creates connection.
The moment my dream became real was when I started investing my own earnings into product development. Until then, it had been an idea. Once I began putting my hard-earned money into formulations, testing, and development, it became a commitment. It stopped being something I hoped to do one day and became something I was actively building.
That was the point of no return.

Creating More Than Skincare… Creating Confidence
My relationship with skincare has always been personal.Growing up, I experienced my own skin concerns, which shaped the way I looked at beauty. I understood how much skin confidence affects the way people feel about themselves. Skincare, for me, was never simply about appearance. It was about self-esteem, comfort, and confidence.
That experience continues to influence every product we create at La Adorn. I don’t formulate products for people with perfect skin. I formulate for real people who wake up with real concerns, insecurities, and expectations. My goal has never been to sell the promise of perfection. It has been to help people feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
When I decided to launch La Adorn, I made a conscious choice that surprised many people. Instead of launching a large range of products, we introduced only four SKUs.
In a market where brands often compete by constantly releasing new products, I wanted to take the opposite approach. Every product had to earn its place. Every formulation needed a clear purpose. Rather than creating dozens of products to fill shelves, I wanted to focus our energy on developing a few products exceptionally well.
I believe customers remember products that genuinely work, not products that simply create noise.
The name La Adorn reflects the philosophy behind the brand. To me, skincare is one of the few moments in a busy day when we pause and focus entirely on ourselves. It is a small ritual of self-care in a world that constantly demands our attention elsewhere.
When someone sees a La Adorn product on their vanity, I want it to remind them of something simple but important—that they deserve care, confidence, and time for themselves. Beyond hydration and nourishment, I want our products to create a feeling. A feeling of being cared for. A feeling of self-worth. A reminder that investing in yourself is never selfish.

Building the Brand, One Careful Decision at a Time
Entrepreneurship often looks glamorous from the outside, but behind every product launch is a series of difficult decisions.
From the beginning, I chose to fund La Adorn using my own earnings from my legal career. Independence mattered to me. I wanted the freedom to make decisions based on what I believed was right for the brand rather than external pressures.
When you are investing your own money, your relationship with risk changes completely. Every decision carries weight. Every rupee represents years of effort and hard work. It forced me to become disciplined, intentional, and focused on long-term value rather than short-term trends.
At the heart of this journey has been my family. My mother, Hemlata Thakur, became my co-founder and strongest support system. Together, we spent countless hours researching ingredients, discussing formulations, testing products, and refining ideas. Before launching in August 2024, we personally tested formulations for nearly 18 months.
One of the hardest lessons during that period was learning to say no.
Not every formulation that performed well made the final cut. Sometimes the most difficult decisions involved rejecting products that were good but not exceptional. After months of testing, you naturally become attached to what you’ve created. Yet if a formulation didn’t meet our standards for performance, texture, hydration, or user experience, we walked away from it.
Those decisions were painful, but they were necessary.
Later, my father, Inder Singh Thakur, joined the journey as well, strengthening the foundation of what had become a true family business. In an industry that often feels fast-moving and trend-driven, my family has helped keep me grounded. We share the same values, the same commitment to quality, and the same long-term vision.
Today, when I look at La Adorn, I don’t see a brand built overnight. I see years of preparation, patience, and persistence. I see the support of a family that believed in a dream before it became a business. Most importantly, I see the beginning of something meaningful.
My vision has never been to chase temporary hype. I want La Adorn to become a globally trusted luxury skincare brand built on authenticity, nourishment, confidence, and emotional connection.
