Book Review: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
Author: Dr. Joseph Denis Murphy
Rating: 4/5
The subconscious mind is one with infinite powers and capabilities and surprisingly, something this powerful is within reach of everyone who wishes to use it. This is the premise on which the bestseller, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind was written.
The late Dr. Joseph Denis Murphy (was an Irish-born American author and New Thought minister, ordained in Divine Science and Religious Science), through this book makes an attempt at teaching a more effective way of praying. The book itself has several biblical references so as to give the author’s arguments recognition. Throughout the chapters, Dr Murphy continues to guide readers to the words to recite in different situations when the mind desperately seeks a particular outcome.
Through this technique, he drives home the point of how the use of professing the outcome you want to see, eventually and miraculously comes to fruition as if an invisible force was in play. However, this invisible force would be one that resides within all of us, giving everyone the power of wielding it on command.
The book promises to deliver to people exactly what they seek. One needs to simply have faith and use affirmations. This, besides meditating on their goals on a continuous basis. The book is divided into chapters based on the different challenges we might face and the different needs that people have, be it in relationships or financially. After reading this book you would have learned the approach to dealing with every downfall and you will have gained an insight into how to succeed in even the most seemingly impossible task.
The author covers many real-life cases, stories of people who applied his suggestions, and for whom his teachings seemed to make a difference. Each of them have professed the all-changing power of the techniques taught in the book.
Although the book does make a difference and helps people actively notice their thoughts and realign them in a positive manner, it felt repetitive in many places. The author mentions the same point albeit in different ways. At times, it can be a dry read and can be difficult to complete. However, most of the teachings can be applied to a multitude of problems to find practical results.
Reading this book can be truly life-changing; the numerous people spoken about in the book are a testament to this fact. The value in the principles written about is indisputable and the real-life stories are truly inspiring.
First released in the year 1963, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind still holds true even today, and will continue to hold good. I found it totally uplifting and inspiring and would definitely recommend this book because the Power resides within us all. We all need to know how to tap into the source.
