Dubai knows how to treat its international guests to the best. At the on-going Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, players from all over the world are being treated to trips to various hot-spots of the city and these do not include just malls or fancy hotels.
Yesterday, the top seed in the doubles event, Caroline Garcia, was treated to an experience in the ‘tropical forest’. The French player went back to nature at The Green Planet. The world number three in doubles enjoyed the interaction with the animals, taking selfies with the birds and a baby rainbow boa constrictor and she even held a hissing cockroach!

The Green Planet is a bio-dome inviting visitors to explore our planet’s fascinating flora and fauna through an immersive expedition into the tropics. Designed as an enclosed ecosystem, The Green Planet recreates the enchanting world of the tropical forest with over 3,000 plants and animals and the world’s largest indoor man-made and life-sustaining tree. The educational and recreational facility is raising awareness for the delicate balance of nature and the preciousness of one of our world’s oldest living ecosystems.
Garcia was visibly enchanted as she walked through and experienced the closeness to nature as the images depict. It was also a time spent to rejuvenate as she prepares for the tournament with her first match coming up tomorrow. Garcia, who won the 2016 French Open doubles, is teamed with fellow Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic. Kristina is already on a high after having dumped second seed Karolina Pliskova 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets yesterday. With Garcia getting her lungs full of unadulterated oxygen, things can only get better for this dynamic duo.
Within The Green Planet, a majestic green canopy covers the lush tropical vegetation, recreating the natural habitat of an abundance of species and giving visitors striking glimpses into the beauty of another world. The bio-dome seamlessly integrates exhibitions and displays that encourage visitors to explore the inner workings of the ecosystem.
The Green Planet is an unparalleled offering which appeals to nature lovers and explorers of all ages while providing educational insights on the delicate balance of nature on Planet Earth. It is built around the desire to contribute to environmental consciousness in the region. As part of this priority, The Green Planet aims to not only impress visitors with a novel green oasis in the city f Dubai, but at the same time ensure that they enjoy an up-close educational and fun experience.
Garcia was beaming as she left the ‘tropical forest’.
