Shahul Hamid is forever grateful to Shelter Don Bosco for the change in his life. He is grateful for the love and care he received.
The Don Bosco Night Study Class has been founded to provide children a space where they can focus on their studies. Help is at hand in the form of teachers who clear doubts. Moreover, students who are in their crucial years of Std X and XII have always benefitted in a big way and Christopher’s story is no different.
“Had it not been for the love, care and support I received at Shelter Don Bosco, it would not have been possible for me to start out on my own. I owe my confidence in life to Shelter,” says Ejaz Khan who was rescued from the streets.
Bajrangi has dealt with many misfortunes, right from being persuaded by his friends to leave his home to attempting to end his life over a failed love affair. But Don Bosco Shelter has supported him throughout.
A product of Don Bosco Night Study Class, Thomson is currently teaching in the Department of Chemistry at Wilson College, Mumbai.
It was in the year 2002 that Prabhakar arrived with several other street children at the monthly mela held by Shelter Don Bosco. After learning about the opportunities Shelter could give him, he decided to stay and start pursuing his dream of going to school.
Fr Xavier Devadas who has been working with street children says that it has been a privilege for him to serve the Young at Risk.
Fr. Tony D’Souza the then Provincial and his Council, saw the need and provided land for a larger facility. Thus was born ‘Maria Ashiana a Don Bosco therapeutic Centre’ in Lonavala. This place has seen the ‘placing into society’ of many boys who would have otherwise died on the streets.
“We believe in helping the child at risk and his testimony will speak,” says Fr Gregory Almeida, Provincial Council Member for YaR.
