Control Alt Delete is India’s biggest crowd-funded Music Festival. The 12th Edition of this two-day Music Festival begins tomorrow, February 01, 2020 and is on till Sunday, February 02, 2020. The festival is being held at a beautiful venue at Roaring Farms, Malwani, Malad, Mumbai, over a six-acre open space.
In the initial Editions of this Festival, the organisers picked just one genre of music and had all artistes perform on that genre only. However, over the years, the concept has become much larger and the Festival is now organized over two days and this year, around 45 artistes will perform over five genres on five different stages. For the second time at Control ALT Delete Festival, there is also a campsite which will accommodate the artistes that are visiting from outside as well for those who want to camp at the site during the two-day Festival.
When: Saturday February 01, 2020 to Sunday, February 02, 2020
Where: Roaring Farms, Malwani, Malad, Mumbai
Time: 2:30pm to 10;00pm
Entry: Pay what you can
The whole idea behind this music festival is to bring up fresh artistes and new acts, and the artistes have rarely been repeated. These artists are from all over India, ranging from genres like Hip-Hop to Metal to Indie and Alternative Music to Live Electronic and other Electronica Music.
The concept for this Festival was thought about by different bands back in the day but the idea was magnified by two people who now run the festival—Himanshu Vaswani and Nikhil Udupa who work at a company called 4/4 Experiences and have been in the ‘live’ music scene for a very long time.
Since it’s a crowd-funded festival, the idea is for those wanting to enter to pay whatever they want to enter. They also welcome contributions online and no sponsor gets a special preference; all contributors are equal and their name comes in the list like any other contributor whether you pay Rs10 or whether you sponsor Rs 10 lakh.
All volunteers and crew who work at the Festival do it for free. The artistes who perform are given just travel and accommodation apart from their meals being taken care of. There is no remuneration for any performing artiste at this Festival. Love of music is what gets them here.
Everyone from beginners to established artistes are welcome to perform here provided they go through the proper process. This year Ankur Tiwari, Vasuda Sharma with her band—Sharma and the Besharams as well as Hip-Hop artists like TIENAS, Ahmer Javed the Rapper will be performing among others. And for the first time there is also going to be BFR Sound System—Bass Foundation Roots which is run by Delhi Sultanate and Begum X. Delhi Sultanate is a rapper called Taru Dalmia who is very active in the ‘protest music scene’. The main idea at the Festival this year is ‘MUSIC FOR ALL’, and so the aim is to get many artistes from different genres so that there is something for everyone who comes to the Festival.
So what are you waiting for? Press Control ALT Delete to whatever you are doing and be there at Roaring Farms to make this Music Festival a ‘roaring success’.
