Sahher Bambba on her workout routine, eating habits and spiritual quotient…

Workout Routine
I work out five times a week mostly in the mornings. I prefer working out in the mornings because you start the day feeling great and have the rest of the day to yourself. I enjoy functional training and yoga. Functional Training, because you are using the weight of your own body; so it strengthens you and builds up your stamina. I really enjoy Yoga. I have seen my mother doing it for so many years and I have seen the positive impact it has had on her. It helps with your flexibility. It also helps calm my mind and body.

Eating Habits
As far as eating is concerned, you shouldn’t deprive yourself because the more you deprive yourself of sweets, or whatever it is that you crave for, the more you will eventually indulge in them. Having said, having things in moderation is very, very important. I don’t eat any salads or have any soup (to each his own); I only eat ghar ka khaana which comprises two rotis, rice, dal, one vegetable. That’s my lunch and dinner. It’s not that I go really light on my dinner. As far as my sugar cravings are concerned, I do indulge once in a while but I think portion control is also equally important. Instead of indulging in a whole dessert, you might as well have a bite or two. That’s what works for me. I focus on my protein intake because I’m a vegetarian; I eat lots of veggies, dals, tofu, legumes. For carbohydrates I eat rice. Water is very important. I try to have at least three litres daily; it’s the minimum one should have.
Tips: Don’t over indulge, have everything in moderation and just try and avoid white sugar.

Spiritual Quotient
It’s very important to have a positive approach towards life because there can be a million things you can pin-point which are not going right in your life but there are also a million things you should be grateful for. Starting your day on a positive note and surrounding yourself with positive people who will only encourage you is very, very important. Besides that, meditation and just concentrating on my breath is something that I recently started doing. Happiness should come from within and we should be grateful for the many things that you have and just count our blessings. It’s very important to stay in the present and not dwell too much on the past and not worry too much about the future. Focus on the now and just be!
