Riya Sen on her workout routine, eating habits and spiritual quotient…

Workout Routine
I workout just twice a week: I alter my routine between yoga, lightweights and cardio. I hate to stick to one routine which lets boredom set in. I workout when I feel like I really need to as I’m active most of the time. For me, being active and on my feet is enough to burn fat. Since I’m either shooting or travelling most of the time, it is very difficult to have a set routine. Whenever I get a few days to unwind, I prefer relaxing in bed with my dogs.

Eating Habits
I love my food. I also have a major sweet tooth, so when I binge, I binge for a week every month and there’s no holding back. I eat everything I wantfrom chocolates, milkshakes, and brownies to potato chips, pizzas, junk food. Basically, I eat out a lot and this one week is a crazy week. However, for the rest of the days of the month, I’m very controlled.

My day starts with warm water with turmeric and ginger followed by coconut water. I have my multivitamins and calcium, then some high-quality fibre. I eat two meals a day. My meals consist of all kinds of meat, eggs, avocados, spinach, brinjals, broccoli, mushrooms… In between meals I sometimes snack on nuts and cheese. I have whey protein everyday regardless of whether I’m working out or not.

Spiritual Quotient
I get stressed like any normal person would but it takes me very little time to overcome that because I feel what I eat keeps me mentally healthy. Apart from that, my travels make me realise there are greater things in life out there to educate yourself about, than worry about these little upheavals. So I spend a lot of time doing that. I’ve been meditating now for a few years as well and this helps me feel very positive.
