The essence: The entire production is top class with the subtle music (Baapi-Tutul) drawing you into the plot right from the very first scene, and also being an intrinsic character in the story till the end. The Bar knocks the suave Kabir off his bar stool!

In a short span of 10 minutes director Aneeta Patel demonstrates her skill in story-telling on celluloid.

She’s slick, knows her camera angles and leaves a lot to the viewer’s imagination. In short, watching her short films is not about watching a short film, it’s about being engaged and intrigued and then going back to watch it again to ensure what you derived from it is what it actually is.

She’s D One, her very first film released last week was one such gem. A week later, Aneeta is out with The Bar, another stunner about a smooth operator in a bar.

Always neatly turned out, Kabir (Sudanshu Pandey) is out there, night after night, selecting his prey, a damsel in distress, to offer his support! Kabir talks well, stalks well, knows when to move in and then, after the night is done, it’s another statistic in his game!

Kabir finally meets his match but not in the manner one expects! Watch out for the killer punch!

Dhrriti Saharan as Sara is brilliant in her performance: her dialogue delivery punctuated with perfectly-timed body movements and facial expressions are a lesson in motion. Anushka Ghorpade as Jia, too perfects her part. The mystery girl is Palak Sidhwani who keeps looking over her shoulder from the bar stool waiting for Kabir (a little stiff in his role) to make his move on her.

The entire production is top class with the subtle music (Baapi-Tutul) drawing you into the plot right from the very first scene, and also being an intrinsic character in the story till the end.

The Bar knocks the suave Kabir off his bar stool!

Take a bow, Aneeta Patel!
