Shilpi Sharma on her workout routine, eating habits and spiritual quotient…
I love running, so I try to do that at least thrice a week. I’ve lost interest in the gym as it can be too monotonous. I now workout at home with body weights and also light weights. I try and incorporate some yoga as well into my routine. Stretches are an integral part of my fitness routine.
With the kind of lifestyle I have (which includes late nights because of my work and also travelling), it’s very difficult to manage a good diet and fitness regime. I try my best to take care of myself. I’ve quit wheat or any kind of bread. I stick to jowar rotis and no matter what I ensure I eat a healthy breakfast before 11am which consists of egg white omelette or boiled eggs with oats and a few dry fruits.
Lunch is mostly around 2pm which consists mostly of green vegetables, jowar rotis and yoghurt. This is followed by herbal tea. In the evenings, I like my juice and fruits around 5.30 -6pm. Dinner for me is by 8pm. I try drinking at least 2.5 litres of water on a daily basis and one thing I never forget is coconut water.
I love carbs but ensure I do not consume too much. I like to eat everything in moderation. I’ve learnt over a period of time that starving is not good. I try to have a balanced life and eating habits which I can maintain all my life.
I stress easily! It’s very important to find something in life which keeps you sane and at peace. I stay close to my mother and few loved ones who keep showering me with love. Also, I have a cute little dog. He gives me unconditional love and puts a smile on my face all the time. Just playing with him feels like heaven to me—it’s pure innocence.
My mantra: Learn to be with people who truly love you and do not lead a fake life. Pray even if it’s for a minute. Practicing to be kind and making someone happy without expectation is pure bliss!
